Population genetics is concerned with the forces that act upon changes in allele frequencies over multiple generations. The primary forces are mutation, drift, migration, selection, and recombination. An area that has had a major influence is the neutral theory and the coalescent. The field of population genetics has similarities to evolutionary game dynamics in game theory.
